Auld Reekie?
No, not a description of vintage 2-strokes, although it may well apply! It’s the old nickname for Edinburgh, which is Scots for ‘old smokey’. The section adopted the name almost from its inception, and as a tradition we’ve stuck with it
Welcome
Auld Reekie is the section name of the Vintage and Classic Motor Cycle Club (VMCC) for Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians. We welcome everyone interested in classic and vintage motorcycles 25 years old or order. The VMCC has a worldwide membership of over 10,000 with a huge variety of bikes, and even in our local section we have members with bikes from the earliest motor bicycles through to classics from the 80s and 90s.
We meet every month of the year; in the colder and darker months this is indoors for talks and presentations of interest to the local members. In the summer months we have a series of runs and ‘ride-in’ meetings. Click here for our 2026 programme of events. Events are also posted-up in advance on our Facebook page.
We welcome everyone with an interest in vintage and classic bikes to our meetings and runs even if you are not yet a member of the VMCC. If you do want to joint the VMCC though, you can click here to join on-line.
Monthly Meetings
We meet on the third Monday each month in the function room at the Newliston Arms, except for June to August where we have a series of ride-in meetings to different local venues. The 2026 programme is here.
